How to create backup with system image in Windows 10 – Backing up your computer is the best strategy for hardware failures, application and upgrade issues, and malware attacks that can damage installations and corrupt files. If you create backups irregularly, important documents, precious pictures and settings that you spend a long time configuring will be at risk.

A system image is another way to refer to a “full backup” because it contains a copy of everything on the system, including operating system installations, settings, applications, and files. Generally, you will find this tool more useful when you need to restore the entire system from a critical hardware or software problem (such as a hard drive failure) or when trying to roll back to an earlier version of Windows 10.

On Windows 10, the tool includes an option to store the full backup in a different location, such as on an external hard drive or a shared folder on the network. However, you can use removable storage as long as you can, because you can disconnect and store in another physical location.

To create a full backup of Windows 10 using the system imaging tool, use the following steps:

  • Open Settings.
  • Click on Update & Security.
  • Click on Backup.
  • Under the “Looking for an older backup?” section, click the Go to Backup and Restore (Windows 7) option.

After completing these steps, the tool will create an image of the entire system, which includes everything on the primary hard drive and system reserved partitions, as well as other drives you may choose.

When you start a full backup on Windows 10, you can continue to work during the process because the tool uses the “Shadow Copy” feature, which can back up files even if the file is open and the application is running.

After the process is complete, you can disconnect the external drive to store it in a safe place. If you have valuable information, you may want to consider placing the drive in another location.
