How to disable Chrome new tab page background image – Since more than a year, I have been using Chromium-based Edge as my main web browser. My other browser is Firefox, although I rarely use it.

Recently, I installed the latest version of Google Chrome, because I want to check the progress of Chrome in the past year or so, especially considering the similarities between Chrome and the new Edge.

Although the image on the new tab page looks pretty good, not all users like it. In addition, seeing the same pictures every time you open a new tab may quickly bore you.

If you use the Chrome browser extensively, you may want to hide or delete pictures in Chrome’s new tab page. Fortunately, it’s easy to delete pictures from the background of the new tab page.

Let’s see how to stop the Chrome browser from using the image as the new tab background and restore the original no background or white background.

Please note that in this guide, we are using Chrome installed on a PC running Windows 10. However, these instructions must also apply to Chrome on the Mac.

Step 1: On the new tab page of Chrome, click the small pencil icon at the bottom right corner of the page. Click the pencil icon to bring up the “Customize this page” page.

Step 2: Here, in the left pane, select the “Background” tab. Now, on the right, click the “No Background” tile to select it.

Step 3: Finally, click the “Done” button to set the plane as the background of the new tab page.
