Enable Do Not Disturb mode while driving on iPhone
As you have experienced, answering a call or receiving a message reminder on your iPhone usually distracts you while driving.
Therefore, Apple provides the option to enable the Do Not Disturb while driving mode on the iPhone, which can completely prevent calls, message reminders, and other notifications from appearing on the iPhone, only when you are driving.
According to your preference, you can set iPhone to automatically switch to Do Not Disturb mode or manually enable Do Not Disturb while driving mode on iPhone.
Automatically enable Do Not Disturb mode when driving on iPhone
iPhone can be set to automatically switch to Do Not Disturb while driving mode when it detects that you are moving.
Go to Settings > Focus > tap on the + Icon, located at top-right corner. On the next screen, select the Driving option. On the next screens, tap on the Next button > tap on Allow None > select the Turn Driving on Automatically option.

On the next screen, tap on Done to save the Do Not Disturb While Driving Setting on your iPhone.
After that, iPhone will automatically enter “Do Not Disturb” mode when it detects that you are moving.
The disadvantage of this method is that it puts your iPhone in do not disturb mode, even if you are traveling on a bus, train, or in a car as a passenger.
Enable Do Not Disturb While Driving When Connected to Car Bluetooth
If your car is equipped with a Bluetooth speaker, you can set your iPhone to automatically enter the Do Not Disturb mode when connected to the car’s Bluetooth system.
Go to Settings > Focus > Driving > tap on the While Driving option, located under the “Turn ON Automatically” section. On the next screen, select the When Connected to Car Bluetooth option.

Although this method can prevent your iPhone from entering Do Not Disturb mode when riding on a bus or train, it can still enter Do Not Disturb mode if you travel in your own car as a passenger.
Enable Do Not Disturb mode when connected to CarPlay
If you have a newer car equipped with CarPlay technology, you can set your iPhone to automatically switch to Do Not Disturb mode using CarPlay.
Go to Settings > Focus > Driving > While Driving > enable Activate With CarPlay option on the next screen.

Manually enable Do Not Disturb while driving mode on iPhone
Go to Settings > Focus > Driving > While Driving > select the Manually option. After this, iPhone will switch to Do Not Disturb While Driving, only when you manually set Driving ON by going Settings > Focus > Driving and move the Driving toggle to ON position.

You can also Enable DND While Driving Mode from the Control Center on your iPhone (Swipe up from the bottom of the screen > tap on Focus > Driving).
Change the do not disturb automatic reply message while driving
By default, the auto-reply message is set to “I turned on focus while driving. I will see your message when I get to where I am going.”
However, you can change and personalize this message by going to Settings > Focus > Driving > Auto-Reply. On the next screen, tap on the Default Message and type your own Auto Reply Message.

Note: By default, only contacts marked as favorites in the iPhone Contacts application can see your auto-reply messages, but you can change this setting.
